First-class mail stamp is going up from 42 cents to 44 cents on May 11, 2009.  So don’t forget to stock up on Forever stamps which is valid forever regardless of increase in stamp prices.

I thought the new price ($0.41) and the Forever stamp is going to be introduced next year.  I did blog about it here before.  I guess I was wrong coz today is the day.  The stamp price is now at $0.41 and the Forever stamp is now available.

The first forever stamps are selling for 41 cents apiece, but they won’t have a price printed on them and they will remain valid for sending a letter regardless of any future increases.

While a forever stamp will always be valid for mailing a latter, that doesn’t mean the price won’t go up. If rates were to increase to 45 cents, for example, that’s what a forever stamp would sell for. But stamps already purchased at a lower cost could still be used without adding extra postage.

I wonder how popular this “forever” stamp will be.  I probably won’t be buying anyway since I haven’t been buying postage since ummm… I don’t even remember.
