I like the song “I Melt With You” by Modern English, even though the lyrics confuse me a bit. Nouvelle Vague sang the same song at the movie “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” with a more sultry tone, sexy and tender and still keeping up with the beat. It would be perfect as a background for a quick slideshow or video highlight.
Snippet: I’ll stop the world and melt with you
You’ve seen the difference and
It’s getting better all the time
There’s nothing you and I won’t do
I’ll stop the world and melt with you
I find this song very romantic. Not to mention I love Josh Groban’s voice. I almost forgot to add this to my playlist until I saw Josh Groban perform at this year’s Emmys.
Snippet: You’re the one I’ve always thought of.
I don’t know how, but I feel sheltered in your love.
You’re where I belong.
“Bless the Broken Road” is sang by Rascal Flatts. But I found this duet version by Selah to be great for weddings.
Snippet: Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
“Going To The Chapel” by The Dixie Cups is one of those happy songs. It has that fun beat that helps take the edge off. If you’re getting nervous on your way to the altar, play this.
Snippet: Spring is here, th-e-e sky is blue, whoa-oh-oh
Birds all sing as if they knew
Today’s the day we’ll say “I do”
And we’ll never be lonely anymore because we’re
Goin’ to the chapel
And we’re gonna get ma-a-arried
My Little Girl by Steve Kirwan was the first song I found that’s perfect for a father-daughter dance. My dad was touched when he heard the song for the first time. The song took the words out of his mouth.

Snippet: As I dance the last dance
With my little girl
And the first with the woman
Who’s found her place in the world
I see the woman in you
But for my whole life through
You’ll always be my little girl
I first heard Joy Williams’s song Every Moment at a wedding photographer, David Jay’s website. The lyrics make up for a perfect religious wedding song. It’s also a great accompaniment to a wedding slideshow. You’ll see below a slideshow of my brother and his wife’s wedding.
Snippet: We move on with no regrets to our destiny
Held by the hands of the Father
We share His love and He leads us through
All these days
This is just too cute coming from a father. It is unlike those too-sweet father songs. The song somehow portrays a father making sure his daughter’s husband knows that he loved her first and he was once his daughter’s #1 guy. The husband wasn’t the first one. But the father still recognizes that it’s time to let go. This song brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it.
Snippet: I was her number one
She told me so
And she still means the world to me
Just so you know
So be careful when you hold my girl
Time changes everything
Life must go on
And I’m not gonna stand in your way
I first heard of Cascada’s Everytime We Touch at a wedding. It was the original upbeat version and I thought it was fun and appropriate. It’s definitely a good song for the dance floor. Then I learned about the slow version which I fell more in-love with.
