It was fun to finally decorate. But there were definitely things that were not much fun at all.
I only had 2 couplers (the thing that are attached to the decorating bags where you can screw in the tips). Two wasn’t enough for me. I always had to tear off the decorating bag, take out the coupler so I can attach it to another decorating bag where I can put another type or color icing. It was a pain! Then at the end, I realized it was a bigger pain to wash all the stuff!
By the way, here are some crappy pictures taken with my crappy camera:
Here was the cake I decorated with the leftover icing in different consistency and color.

With the leftover icing, I tried making a rose. We weren’t taught how to make it yet, but I was bored. Look at how crappy they were! See the white glob in the back? That was my very first rose!

Of course I baked chocolate cake and my mom got the first dibs.

P.S. Notice how thin my cake was? I only cooked half a box coz no one will eat it.
Cake Decorating 1: supplies
John took me to Walmart to buy some cake decorating supplies. Walmart didn’t have all that I needed. But I got disposable decorating bags, angled spatula, meringue powder, icing colors, vanilla flavoring, 8 inch round cake pan, parchment paper, revolving cake stand and cake caddy with 2 cupcake pans. Total: $75.58! Yikes!
We went to Michael’s to buy the other supplies Walmart didn’t have: piping gel, clown heads, flower lifter, decorating kit, icing containers. Total: $43.35. By the way, the total didn’t have the 10% discount students get. However, Walmart is still cheaper even after applying a 10% discount on the Michael’s items.
I totally forgot to include that in my budget. Now I have to figure out where to get that money from!Â
Regardless, I’m still very excited to use them all!!!Â
Cake Decorating 1: Day 1
I just got back from my first class in Wilton Cake Decorating Course 1 at Michaels.  The course was half off and only cost $12.50 which includes 4 2-hour classes.Â
The instructor explained to us the book and the supplies, and demonstrated what we are about to learn in the whole course from icing the cake to making roses. We didn’t get our hands dirty so I was disappointed. But at the end of the class, she gave us a lot (at least to me) of homework. We have to bring our own cake – already iced, 3 cups of icing, and all the tools we need. It is a lot to bring, but I’m excited! Did I mention I live only a block away from Michaels?

Have your cake and eat it too
The wedding cake is one of the most artistic and creative item in a wedding. You can do anything with a wedding cake like incorporate your wedding’s theme or motif or your favorite hobby or sport. Maybe not so much about the favorite hobby or sport. That’s why there’s a groom’s cake!
But grooms are men.  And most men like meat meat meat. So won’t they want meat instead of cake? Well, someone had the answer… a meat cake! Click here to see how she made it. I wonder how that tastes.

And some eye-candy… some real regular groom’s cakes:
