Review: Eureka Body Care and Spa – laser hair removal
I have gone to Eureka Body Care and Spa for laser hair removal. Unfortunately, I am unable to recommend them for the mere fact that out of the three laser machines I had experience with, the machine they used was the least effective.
PRICE & PACKAGE
Eureka’s price was very competitive. I bought a package at Groupon for “Eureka Body Care — One Year of Unlimited Laser Hair-Removal Treatments on One Large Area and Two Small Areas” on 5/17/16 for $179. They offered the same price if I buy the same package directly from them. However, the price for the same package had gone up since I bought it to $215 at the time of this post.
I then realized how deceptive their packages were when I got there for my 8th treatment on 3/29/17. I was told that my 8th treatment was my last. I showed them that the package I purchased was for one year of unlimited laser hair-removal. I bought the package on 5/17/16 and had my first treatment 5/26/16. I could have a 9th treatment on 5/10/17, which was within one year from my first treatment or purchase date. I was told I was only limited to 8 treatments, and they have changed their new packages on Groupon reflecting that. According to them, their new packages do not include the text “Unlimited” anymore. It now specifies “8 treatments.” I bought the old package so the new package should not apply to me. But they still insisted I only get 8 treatments.
I checked Groupon again at the time of this post, and the Eureka packages now say “Unlimited” again. Like before, I did not see any mention of maximum number of treatments the client gets within one year.
At the end of my session, they offered me a complimentary facial, which was nice. But that still didn’t change the fact that I should have had a 9th laser hair removal treatment.
The place was nice and clean.
The staff were always friendly. I appreciated the text confirmation and reminders.
At seven out of my 8 appointments, I had to wait 20-40 minutes in the middle of the day on a weekday.
LASER MACHINE (MEDIOSTAR)
Mediostar, the machine they used was the least effective of the three machines (Candela, Cynosure, Mediostar) I have experienced. Six weeks after my 7th treatment, patches of hair on my legs and underarms were still very noticeable ranging from 1/4 to 1/2 inch. The hair never came off after my 8th treatment. Mediostar, however, was the least painful and quickest.
Their technicians have different levels of service. My favorite was Nati. She took her time and made sure she covered the whole area. Tamara missed some spots on my underarms. Yana was the technician during my 8th treatment and she rushed the treatment. She didn’t bother assessing my hair and proceeded to do the treatment without shaving the remaining long hairs. I usually shave 1-2 days before treatment, but I intentionally didn’t shave before the 8th treatment to show them the progress of my hair growth.
