Wedding Reviews Vol.5: Accommodations

13 Holland St, Newport RI (HomeAway)

This 2-bedroom condo is a “must-rent”.  It is gorgeous, modern and very clean!  It is very close, a walk away to downtown Newport.  The price was very reasonable at $500+cleaning for a 2-night weekend in May.

I love that the condo has 2 levels.  The bedrooms are on the 2nd level.  And one of the bedrooms has a little loft furnished with a full bed and a chair.  The bedroom with a loft has an lcd tv, but the other does not.  There is a big lcd tv in the living room.

Caroline, the owner, is very nice.  I felt like I was dealing with a close friend or family.  She left a bunch of condiments and other stuff at the place.  That was very convenient.  We needed a few things and we didn’t even have to go to the store!  We could also have just left our bath amenities at home coz there were so many things already provided.

There was enough parking for 2 cars or 3 small cars.  You can also ask for a street parking pass.  One little problem is that half of the entry to the parking spot has a gutter.  So if your car is low, it’s not very easy to get into the parking lot especially if the neighbors’ cars are there.

71 Aquidneck Ave, Middletown RI (HomeAway)

I highly recommend this house. It is awesome for big families like ours with 5 bedrooms. It was big, homey and very comfortable. We felt right at home.

The sofas in the living room were very comfortable and there were blankets provided for each of them.  My dad and uncle was able to sleep on the sofas comfortably.  The kitchen was fully furnished and stocked with lots of kitchenware, dinnerware, garbage bags, even vases (very useful for the bouquets)! I love how big the deck was, great for summer gatherings. The rooms were quite spacious. Three of the five bedrooms had king bed and TVs. The two rooms with full beds didn’t have TV. The beds were comfortable except in the king room with private bath and large deck which happened to be the prettiest room. The king bed was a combination of two mattresses and we could feel the edges where the two mattresses met. It wasn’t comfortable sleeping in the middle. That room was also cooler than the rest of the house. We could feel a draft coming in from the wall connecting the room to the kitchen. However, it was nice when the weather got warmer.

Another big plus was the location. It’s just a short walk away from restaurants, stores, the beach, the Cliff Walk, etc. The parking area was huge. The internet was fast.

Olga, the owner, was very responsive and very accommodating. When I first talked to her inquiring about the house, she was honest and she even described to me the layout of the house which was very helpful and greatly appreciated.
