DIY: Tissue Pomander Centerpieces

In the beginning, I was planning to DIY my centerpieces.  Recently, our plans changed and decided to hire a florist instead.  But I totally forgot to show you the mock-up I did when I was still planning to DIY the centerpieces.  So here they are…

Cost Breakdown:
Tissue paper = free (I have in stock – yes I do have that many)
2 3″ styrofoam balls ($2.88/6) = $0.96
2 4″ styrofoam balls ($3.52/4) = $1.76
1 7″ candelabra = $9.99 – 20% discount
1 9″ candelabra = $12.99 – 20% discount
table letter = $1.99

TOTAL (per table) = $12.70-$22.69 + tax

I loved making the tissue pomanders.  And now that I have tissue pomanders lying around, I decided to use them during the cocktail hour.

Omg! I love them so much. Those are my favorite kinds of centerpieces, but I could never get down making the tissue paper pomanders so I kind of gave up on them.

Very cute!

Love it! So classy, modern and clean. I’m booking marking this entry :-)

Also, just wondering what your reasons were for going with a florist instead. If you’d prefer, you can email me at dansbride52911@gmail.com

I loved it! It looks so fresh…

Thank you ladies!

Ashley… they do take a while. I guess that’s one reason why I decided to go with a florist :)

Kristina… the main reason I decided not to do it is transporting them from NY to Newport. They’re very bulky (including the other decors I want to DIY) and I don’t have enough space in our vehicles to put them in. I will have to rent another vehicle which will cost me more than $500. In the end, the savings is not that great. So I decided to hire a florist and not worry about it :)

That’s smart!

You can also find these styrofoam balls on ebay in bulk for MUCH cheaper!

[...] Pomanders, round balls of flowers, have been popular for wedding bouquets and hanging decorations. But they can also be used to create fantastic centerpiece designs. Gather several pomanders in a range of complementary colors, such as red, magenta, and orange. The floral balls should be in slightly different sizes for more visual interest. Perch the pomanders atop tall candleholders, cylindrical vases, or any other cool prop that catches your eye. The reception room will come alive with all of the colorful floral balls decorating the tables. (Make the centerpiece shown here using this simple DIY method.) [...]

Amazing! this is a work of art, I would like to try this.
