My dress has arrived

I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m just so excited that I had to share.  It arrived at the store last Thursday and I have an appointment on Thursday for my first fitting.

I owe it all to very helpful friends who shared their advice on getting a dress for less when I posted about my first dress hunt.  I got my dress for a lot less than I budgeted for.  Here’s a summary of the cost-saving tips:

  • Sale and sample sale events
  • Discount stores
  • Pre-owned (tip from Jessica)
  • Student or up and coming designer/seamstress (tip from Daphne)
  • Bridesmaid dress (tip from Lexi)

Wanna guess how much my dress was?

TV vs the Internet

I wasn’t able to watch The Emmys, but I was able to see this skit online and the geeky side of me thought it was funny.

Bouquet Trial #2: Carnations

I have tried Hydrangeas, now it’s time to try Carnations.  They’re very affordable and I love the fullness of the blooms.  Please pardon the visible rubber bands.  I ran out of floral tape and I didn’t get to wrap the bouquet handle with ribbon before I did the corset-type wrapping.

Unfortunately, to get the bouquet size I wanted, I had to use a lot of carnations which ended up being more expensive than the Hydrangeas I used earlier.  I spent $15 for 50 carnations.

The biggest advantage of using Carnations is that they last long. They lasted more than a week just being in a vase with water (no flower food).
