Photographer booked!

Making decisions is the hardest part of wedding planning for me.  It took us months before deciding on our venue.  I’ve been back and forth on our wedding colors.  And as the planning progresses, I haven’t been looking forward to researching other vendors and deciding who to book.

Last weekend was another decision-making moment for us.  We met with a couple of photographers.  Fortunately, unlike our venue saga, we were able to decide within a day and book Melissa Robotti!

Not only are Melissa’s rates reasonable, she is adorable!  We knocked on her door and a cheery woman in her socks opened the door.  We were at ease with her right away.  I am confident that she is capable of making John (who hates getting his photos taken) feel comfortable.

What I love about her photography…

How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day?

Photo from Healthy Living NYC

Photo from Healthy Living NYC

This has been a very exciting pre-Valentine’s!

  • My friend who wanted to go away for a while now was suprised with a card from her husband telling her to pack up and get ready to leave early morning yesterday.  They’re in Jamaica now!
  • Another friend of mine just got engaged on the beach at Atlantic City!  Congratulations Maryrose and Arthur!

I, on the other hand, am spending Valentine’s day with John interviewing wedding vendors and meeting with our event coordinator.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited about meeting our event coordinator to discuss the wedding details, but it’s not very “Valentiney”, is it?

Because of the wedding and the struggling economy, I’m getting more and more cheap economical.  I even told John to not spend anything for Valentine’s.

Has the economy or the wedding affected your Valentine’s day celebration?  How are you celebrating this romantic holiday?

Speak out against overdraft fees

Photo from Corbis

Photo from Corbis

Did you know that most, if not all banks sign you up with overdraft protection automatically even without your consent?  This may sound beneficial especially when you need to purchase or pay for something important and you don’t want to get denied the transaction.  But you also should know that banks charge overdraft fees ranging from $10 to $38 per transaction when you exceed your balance.  This is more unfair to those who don’t even want overdraft protection.

To those who know this all too well, you can speak out by sharing your overdraft protection horror stories.

The Federal Reserve Board is asking for comments from consumers in an effort to crack down on these unfair overdraft program practices.  This joined effort will hopefully result to banks not charging their clients fees for overdraft services the clients did not sign up for and for banks to require permission before enrolling their clients to any overdraft program.

For more information and to submit your comments, click here to go to Consumers Union website.
