    Improving my blog layout

I have been researching on how to improve my blog’s layout.  And it turned out that my blog needs a lot of correcting and updating.  I’ve modified this theme when I was just starting to learn WordPress and CSS.  I guess that’s why it turned out really crappy.

I just uploaded a fresh Blix theme and I’m trying to modify it correctly.  But I’m still not good at CSS so I’m having a hard time.  It’s also taking a lot of time coz I’m trying to combine the 2 css files the Blix theme uses.  I’m hoping someone could help me.

    ad photo

Couture CandyI just saw this ad banner (see right) for Couture Candy and I find it weird.  It did catch my attention, but not in a good way.  So I guess some companies are not bothered by bad publicity much huh?  Just like they say, there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

What do I find weird about the photo?  Whatever it is on the girl’s lips, it’s not pretty.  However pink it may be.  It looks gross even.  Honestly, it looks like lips filled with cold sores.  I may be a little slow… but what are those supposed to be anyway?

    I got a raise!

Woohoo!  I just received an email with my paystub and found out that I got a little more than 10% raise!  I’m so happy.  I was told that a retro-active pay will be given as well.  I’m so looking forward to it.  John and I are planning to go to Cabo this September or October.  If I do get a retro-active pay, then I no longer have to withdraw money from my savings.  If you’re interested in going to Los Cabos, Mexico, I have compiled a few helpful resources and added them to my Travel page: http://www.gnyc.net/travel/cabo.htm.

    What I learned yesterday… PAP

While my co-worker was organizing some medical records, the word “PAP” stood out on one of them.  It was probably because it was the only one in all caps.  We looked under name and the name sounded masculine.  We checked gender, and the patient was indeed male.  We gave each other a puzzled look.  Then we realized there’s such a thing as “PAP” with males.

At first, I thought “PAP” was only done with females.  But I was thinking of something else.  I was thinking of the pap test or pap smear test that tests for cervical cancer in females.  On the other hand, PAP (in all caps) is an acronym for Prostatic Acid Phosphatase.  The PAP test measures prostatic acid phosphatase to determine the health of the prostate gland.  Well, now I know.

    Ithaa – underwater restaurant

    070420ithaa01  070420ithaa03

Dine 16 feet below sea level at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa‘s unique undersea restaurant. Marvel at 360° views of reef and marine life, sip champagne cocktails and sample Maldivian-Western fusion cuisine at this spectacular Maldives restaurant – the world’s only all-glass undersea restaurant.

The amazing view sure makes up for the restaurant’s dull interior… from the ordinary dark brown furniture to the plain ugly-colored wall.

Not only is the accommodation at Hilton Maldives Resort expensive, the meals at Ithaa are too, from $120 to $150 for the lunch menu and $220 to $250 for the dinner menu.  But then again, people who usually stay at the hotel can afford such luxury.

    DC joins Texas and Virginia

Following Texas and Virginia’s lead, the DC council has approved a law requiring girls to get the HPV vaccine.  The requirement will be implemented starting the Fall 2009 semester.  It will require girls entering the sixth grade to get the vaccine unless their parents or guardians waive it.

Would you take the vaccine or allow your daughter to take it?  Click here for the poll.
